5.How does the Q8 e-tron drive?
While the big news for the Q8 e-tron is the bigger battery and increased range, Audi has tweaked the steering and suspension as well. Most notable is the new, quicker steering ratio for the Q8. More responsive steering makes this nearly 5,800-pound SUV feel more nimble than you'd expect, but Audi hasn't gone so far as to make it feel darty or overly responsive to minor inputs. If we had one want with the Q8 e-tron, it would be the addition of rear-axle steering. We think it would go a long way toward improving this SUV's maneuverability in tight spaces and handling on twisty roads.
Audi has retuned the Q8 e-tron's suspension. Changes to various mounting points and suspension components have been made in an effort to increase stiffness, which in turn makes the Q8's body motions more predictable. The Q8 e-tron exhibited excellent composure at a variety of speeds and never felt too soft or overly firm even in its most dynamic settings.
As strange as this might sound, and as strange as it is to write it, we're somewhat happy to see the Q8 e-tron's relatively modest power numbers. These days, it's all too easy to give EVs massive amounts of power in order to impress buyers new to the EV experience, so it's refreshing to drive an EV that's not bent on accelerating as far as some exotic cars. As a result, the big Audi's acceleration will never really snap your head back but there's ample power to move through city traffic as well as pass on a two-lane road. We do lament the lack of true one-pedal driving capability; you'll still need to rely on the mechanical brakes to bring the Q8 to a full stop.
Audi estimates the Q8 e-tron will hit 60 mph in about 5.3 seconds, and from our time behind the wheel, we don't doubt that claim. If you do want an electric SUV with more sauce, there's a tri-motor SQ8 e-tron in the pipeline that should deliver an altogether more sporty experienced

2024 Audi Q8 e-tron First Impressions
What is the Q8 e-tron?
Despite the new name, the 2024 Audi Q8 e-tron is very much the Audi e-tron SUV that came before it, albeit with a number of improvements in key areas. The e-tron was one of the first fully electric luxury SUVs that came to the U.S. market, and for 2024 it's getting a raft of updates that include that new Q8 moniker. It keeps its floor-mounted battery, standard all-wheel drive thanks to front and rear electric motors, and two-row five-passenger layout. From there, the 2024 model receives more range, sportier handling and a few other tweaks. Read on to find out if this renewed e-tron is now good enough to be a worthy competitor to the BMW iX, Mercedes-Benz EQE, Rivian R1T and Tesla Model X.
charging times?
Range is a big area of improvement for the Q8 e-tron. The old model served up a 222-mile EPA-estimated range for the standard SUV and 218 miles in Sportback form. For the 2024 Q8 e-tron, the EPA estimates it's good for 285 miles for the SUV and 296 miles for the Sportback model. An optional Ultra package, available only with the Sportback, features a smaller wheel and tire package with low-rolling-resistance rubber and retuned suspension that gives it a lower ride height for added efficiency, and this setup delivers the magical 300-mile EPA estimate.
The new Q8 e-tron also charges quicker than its predecessor. Audi says that, under ideal conditions, the Q8 e-tron will be able to charge at up to 170 kW at a compatible DC fast-charging station (up from 150 kW previously) and can fill from 10% to 80% capacity in roughly 31 minutes. This is decently quick for a luxury EV and comparable to the BMW iX's time.
Charging at home or on a Level 2 charger has been improved as well. There's a standard 9.6-kW onboard charger with an option for a 19.2-kW unit. The latter ensures a full charge can be had in as little as 6.5 hours while the former will take 13 hours, Audi says. There's also a second AC charge port available for added convenience

Corvette's first-ever hybrid powertrain consists of a 6.2-liter V-8 borrowed from the Corvette Stingray that makes 495 horsepower and drives the rear wheels through an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. A 160-hp electric motor sits on the front axle and drives those wheels, creating an all-wheel-drive setup with a combined 655 horsepower.
A small 1.1-kWh battery pack allows the Corvette E-Ray to travel at up to 45 mph on electric power for short distances in what Chevy calls Stealth mode. With both the electric motor and the V-8 operating at full chat, the Corvette E-Ray hit 60 mph in just 2.5 seconds at our test track. That's quicker than the rear-drive 670-hp
Corvette Z06 coupe, which reached 60 mph in 2.6 seconds in the same test. Chevrolet is touting the winter weather advantages of all-wheel drive and underscoring that idea by making high-performance all-season tires standard on the E-Ray. Summer rubber is an option, and our test
vehicle was so equipped. Cornering grip is nothing short of heroic; although the extra mass from the addition of the electric motor and battery shows up on the scales, it goes virtually unnoticed from behind the wheel on twisty roads. Much like the base Stingray, the E-Ray is just as easy to live with, whether you're running errands or threading your local esses. This is a sports car with two personalities in one.

The EPA estimates that the E-Ray is slightly less efficient than the standard Stingray. It's rated for 19 mpg city, which matches the nonhybrid car's figure, but 24 mpg highway which is 1 mpg less than the Stingray. strictly a two-seater and can be optioned with materials such as leather, imitation suede, and metal or carbon-fiber trim. The roof is removable on the coupe, just like in other Corvettes, and it is stored inside the trunk just aft of the engine compartment. The rear trunk can also accommodate two golf bags, while the smaller front trunk offers space for some luggage or cargo when the roof is stowed. The driver sits behind a squared-off steering wheel that for some reason doesn't feel weird. There's a 12.0-inch reconfigurable gauge display and a large infotainment touchscreen angled toward the driver for ease of use. Special pages on the screen provide readouts for electric-motor and gas-engine power and torque. The interior design takes the driver-focused concept to the max with what we've dubbed the Great Wall of HVAC Controls: a tall separator bisecting the cockpit atop which sits a bank of switches for the car's climate-control system.

What's New for 2024?
The E-Ray is a new entry for Chevrolet this year and its hybrid powertrain represents the first time electrification has ever been added to the Corvette lineup. To accompany its burly 655 horsepower hybrid powertrain, the Corvette E-Ray wears the same wide-body kit and front-end treatment as the high-performance Z06 model. Like the regular Corvette, the Corvette E-Ray is available as either a coupe or a convertible with a folding hardtop. Since the coupe's targa roof lifts off for open-top motoring anyway, we'd stick with it. The E-Ray is offered in 1LZ, 2LZ, and 3LZ trim levels with similar equipment to the 1LT, 2LT, and 3LT versions of the standard Corvette Stingray, and we'd recommend upgrading to the 2LZ version, which adds features such as a head-up display, a wireless smartphone charging pad, a 14-speaker Bose stereo system, blind-spot monitoring, and more.

Introduced more than 40 years ago, the Honda Civic continues to solidify its reputation as an economical and reliable compact. The Civic is one of Honda's most versatile models, usually offered in sedan, coupe, and hatchback body styles; a wagon was offered in early generations. Beat New Car in U.S America
The compact is commonly powered by a four-cylinder engine driving the front wheels, and powertrain choices usually include a high-performance variant and a fuel-efficient hybrid.

The Civic helped establish Honda as a viable automaker in the U.S. A few years after the first-generation Civic launched in 1972, Honda unveiled its innovative Compound Vortex Controlled Combustion (CVCC) four-cylinder engine, which met stringent U.S. emission laws in 1975 without the need for a costly catalytic converter. The Civic's low MSRP and impressive fuel economy -- at a time when fuel was scarce and expensive -- were just a few reasons that led to its growing popularity.
Changes to the second-generation Honda Civic included a longer wheelbase and the introduction of the sedan and wagon body styles. A 2-speed automatic transmission was offered (first-gen Civics only offered manual gearboxes) and other improvements helped earn the Civic our 1980 Import Car of the Year award . For model-year 1984, the third-generation model launched with hatchback, sedan, and wagon body styles. Honda also launched the Civic Renaissance Model X (CRX) two-seater sports car, which was named our 1984 Import Car of the Year and later featured a fuel efficient CRX-HF model that returned about 50 mpg. This generation also saw the introduction of the "Si" trim level, a performance-focused variant that carried on to future Civics.
The fourth-gen Civic launched for model-year 1988 with the same body styles from the previous version and a double-wishbone suspension at all four corners, a setup unique to the segment. Honda pulled the wagon from the fifth-generation Civic (introduced in model-year 1992), but introduced a coupe version for the first time. This was also the first Civic to receive Honda's Variable Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control (VTEC) technology, which maximized performance in both low and high engine speeds by utilizing two camshaft profiles to adjust valve lift.The launch of the sixth-generation Civic in model-year 1996 was highlighted by the new eco-friendly Civic HX Coupe featuring the automaker's first application of a continuously variable transmission (though the five-speed manual gearbox was more efficient with an EPA-rated 36 mpg combined versus 32 mpg for the CVT). In our year-long test of a 1996 Honda Civic EX, the top-of-the-line sedan impressed us with its "generous passenger space" and "delightful" handling. Although we wished for a tad more power from its 127-hp, 1.6-liter inline-four, overall we deemed the 1996 Civic EX "a 90-percent car -- it's perfect for 90 percent of the people 90 percent of the time." A Civic Si was available with 160 hp, but arrived later in the lifecycle.
Big changes arrived with the seven-generation Honda Civic, most notably the switch from a front double-wishbone suspension to a MacPherson strut setup. "Granted, for 90 percent of the 300,000 or so people a year who buy a Civic, the suspension change will go unnoticed," we said in our review of the 2001 Honda Civic. "But performance-oriented owners will fell jilted. "
In a three-way comparison that included a 2001 Civic EX, Toyota Corolla S, and a 2000 Nissan Sentra SE, we concluded that Honda "significantly changed the demeanor of its popular Civic…. Subtle 'de-contenting' has crept into ... the Civic, and some of its exceptional driving dynamics, once due to its unique double-wishbone front suspension, have been lost." Meanwhile, the Sentra excelled at handling and other key areas including perceived quality and value.
For model-year 2002, the Civic Si returned and was only available as a hatchback. The following year, the first-ever Civic Hybrid -- featuring a new version of the Insight Hybrid's powertrain -- was unveiled to target the popular Toyota Prius. The Civic Hybrid combined a 1.3-liter inline-four with an electric motor and a nickel-metal hydride battery pack to achieve around 40 mpg. "This neat little sedan's powertrain polish, steering precision, overall ride, and road poise make the experience quite like driving a well-executed conventionally powered compact," we noted in our First Drive review.
With standout styling and engineering excellence throughout the lineup, the eight-generation Honda Civic was crowned our 2006 Motor Trend Car of the Year . "When we sat down to vote, it wasn't even close: out of 12 judges, 11 voted Civic," we noted. The Civic later came out on top of a four-way comparison with a 2007 Hyundai Elantra, Mitsubishi Lancer, and Nissan Sentra where its 140-hp, 1.8-liter I-4 was the group's most efficient powertrain. Though the hatchback was dropped for this generation, Honda offered the Civic Si in both coupe and sedan versions for the first time. The Civic Si was powered by a 2.0-liter I-4 making 197 hp, while the Civic Hybrid returned with a next-generation "integrated motor assist" powertrain.
The ninth-generation Honda Civic was mostly an incremental evolution from the previous model. In addition to maintaining the sharply-raked windshield, the 140-hp 1.8-liter inline-four also carried over for most trim levels.
